Insulation

Insulating your house can save a lot of energy and thus also money. When renovating or building their houses, many people make this a priority. Most invest in high-insulating glazing, but often forget that the total insulation value of the window should be taken into consideration – and that includes more than just the glass! The insulating properties of PVC are unprecedented in comparison to other materials.
The lower the U-Value – the better the insulation:

Material Description U-Value Total Window
Hardwood Window in hardwood 60 mm profile depth
and U value profiles = 2.2 W/m²K
1.6 W/m²K
Alu Window in alu with thermal insulation
and U value profiles = 2.6 W/m²K
1.7 W/m²K
PVC Window in PVC with multichamber system and U value profiles = 1.8 W/m²K 1.5 W/m²K

Its high insulation value and 100% recyclability make PVC an environmentally friendly solution for saving on your energy bill and reducing C02 emissions!

Recycling

PVC is a very durable & longlasting material. On top of that, PVC is 100% recyclable. The recycling process is very easy: a new profile can be made by simply regrinding the old material. The recycled material is often used, for example, in Deceuninck sound walls. Twenty kg of PVC can be recycled when renovating the average house. The recovered material from 450 houses can be used to build a 1 km long sound wall 3 meters high!Deceuninck is also taking part in Vinyl 2010, the voluntary sustainable development programme organised by the European PVC industry. This programme comprises a series of targets, projects, initiatives & research studies concerning environmental protection & resource management. The PVC industry intends to recycle at least 75% of all PVC waste in Europe, with a minimum of 200,000 tonnes per year, by 2010. More information is available at http://www.vinyl2010.org/Twinson® is also 100% recyclable. Because it is so valuable to us, Deceuninck collects the Twinson® material dropped off at the installers and regrinds it for use in new profiles.
